Materials
Clayver is made of a special type of highly consistent compact sandstone, similar in many ways to natural granite. Unlike terracotta, it is very tough, which makes it easier to handle. The material is waterproof and therefore no special provisions are necessary to prevent the evaporation of the liquid, such as wax, enamel or resin coating. The material is naked. The intrinsically micro-porous structure of the ceramic material allows gas exchange with the exterior, but only in limited quantity and over a long time. Hence, the container is also suitable for long ageing.
It is also food-grade according to current regulations.
Unlike uncoated cement containers, cleaning Clayver is very simple. Hot water, steam or concentrated solutions of tartaric acid, citric acid, etc. may be used.
Shapes
Clayver has the ideal shape of a sphere, with a short neck for the lid.
Other than its undeniable aesthetic value, the spherical shape has several advantages: during maceration, it maintains the skins of the cap in contact with the must, favoring color extraction. During fermentation, convection remains obstructed and actually contributes to maintaining a homogeneous liquid and a constant mixing of the lees. For ageing, the thickness of the walls guarantees optimal high thermal inertia and a homogeneous three-dimensional exchange over the smallest possible surface area.
The top edge of Clayver is perfectly flat, guaranteeing an excellent interface with a simple rectified glass lid. The lid can be customized, silkscreened and UV-treated.

Standard Vertical Clayver is available in a 250-litre and 400-litre version while the horizontal Clayver as per the Trio is available only in 400 Litres.

Create a wall of stoneware barrels and optimise space in your cellar with the ARISTEO and the ATLANTE.
A BRAND new CLAYVER support system available in two types of modular and versatile configurations.
The ARISTEO:
It is a composition of barrels starting from 1200L that can be expanded as desired in height and width along the entire wall.
The ARISTEO modular system allows you to create a wall of stoneware barrels. The self-supporting modules in AISI 304 protect the barrels and the front rotating system allows for effective batonage and complete emptying of the bunghole.
The ATLANTE:
It is a composition of 2 barrels of 850L / 1000L starting from 1700L / 2000L which can be expanded as desired in width along the entire wall.
The ATLANTE optimizes the space in the cellar, protects the barrels by simplifying their management. The lees blocking system eliminates the use of pipes in the bunghole.
